EDUC 659 - School Ethics and Law 3 Hour(s)
The purpose of this course is to provide future school leaders with a clear understanding of the many critical legal issues facing schools based on Constitutional and state law, as well as district and building policies and procedures. Educational leaders are responsible for taking appropriate actions based on sound judgment and a sound legal foundation. Hence, this course will focus on developing a thorough knowledge of precedent through study of case law; prevention through awareness, anticipation, and analysis; and specific attention to contemporary issues, such as bullying, social media concerns, and safety/security. (Clinical experiences in school and district settings required.)
