The Salem College Master of Education (MEd) in School Counseling program is an online program which is approved to offer K-12 school counseling licensure in the state of North Carolina by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). Students seeking school counseling in states or areas outside of North Carolina are responsible for understanding the requirements of the state or area in which licensure is sought. Each state’s educator licensure board determines the licensing requirements for candidates seeking licensure as a school counseling professional.
The MEd in school counseling requires 48 hours of graduate coursework. Other than practicum and internship credit, all coursework in the MEd in school counseling program is conducted online. The online MEd program in school counseling is offered in a cohort model, with programs expected to be completed in three years.
