ARTH 230 - Medicine in Art 3 Hour(s)
A course which explores the representation of physicians, their equipment and activities, from Ancient times, through the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods, to the end of the 19th century. Doctors are sometimes shown as respected figures–scientists, healers–and sometimes caricatured as frauds and quacks, reflecting changing attitudes towards the medical profession and how it was practiced in various periods.
