BIOL 233 - Animal Nutrition 3 Hour(s)
This course will introduce the student to the science of animal nutrition. A comparative approach will yield insight into the varying nutritional spectrums across domesticated mammalian species. This course is focused on the basic concepts of nutrition including gastrointestinal tract anatomy, nutrients and their functions, digestion and metabolism, dietary requirements, consumption needs from their environment, and formation of regular feedings. Emphasis will be made on the role nutrition plays in the development of animal disease including pathologies shared by humans. Weekly lectures.
