CRWR 217 - Introductory Prose Workshop 3 Hour(s)
This workshop course emphasizes the craft of writing prose and how that craft contributes to conveying the human experience. Students will focus on narrative as a means not only to communicate but also to develop empathy and cultural competency-skills integral to futures in humanities and in health-related fields. Students will study both short stories and creative nonfiction to learn craft and technique as well as how to write about their experiences and those of others with ethical self-awareness. Ultimately, students will utilize those skills to produce their own original prose for workshop. Workshop sessions will assist students in acquiring the skills necessary to evaluate other student writing critically and creatively as well as reflect on their own.
