HIST 258 - Colonial Latin America 3 Hour(s)
This course will explore the political, economic, social and cultural history of colonial Latin America from 1492 to 1820. Among the topics to be addressed will be the Aztec and Incan Empires, late medieval and early modern Iberia and Africa, the Spanish Conquistadores, the Columbian Exchange, the slave trade, piracy in the Caribbean, and early modern transatlantic revolutions. This course is also designed to help students develop skills in critical thinking and writing.
