ENVS 245 - Environmental Justice 3 Hour(s)
This course will explore the topic of environmental justice through an interdisciplinary lens focusing on social justice and human inequity as its guiding principles. Topics will include the exploration of environmental justice as a social movement in the US and globally. Exploration of environmental racism and how it has led to inequitable impacts of pollution and environmental contamination among communities with a high population of Black, Indigenous, and other people of color will be covered. Students will also analyze how environmental problems contribute to and are reflective of social inequity, including issues of gender and economic stability.
